26th july 2007, view of the tram subway at glattbrugg under construction taken from a winterthur-bound train. the subway passes under this line and then runs parallel to the bülach railway visible on the left. it then emerges at glattbrugg station. the subway is being built for thze second phase of stadtbahn glattal and will be used by airport-bound trams.

9th august 2008, a cobra tram between bucheggplatz and radiostudio. the sternen oerlikon destination probably indicates this is a depot working (on this day much of the town centre was closed due to the annual street parade). the overhead pipe in the foreground is to pump water out of the works of the new cross-town railway tunnel (durchmesserlinie) which is being built, and a shaft for which has been sunk close to this site.

in the early 1970s, zürich was planning an underground ( u-bahn ). the plans were rejected in a referendum in 1973. this artist's impression shows how lindenplatz stop might have looked. some sections on which work had already commenced were put to other uses, including a tram subway. for more information on this, visit this page: from u-bahn to tram tunnel . the illustrated stop would have been built by cut-and-cover. compare this to the deep-level-bore station that was planned at schaffhauserplatz ..

zürich var picdescr="w&l&jpg&0?http://www.datacomm.ch/shadowfax/tram/photo/zurich/milchbuck1_c.html?" zürich. 15th december 2001. zürich certainly has no shortage of complex junctions, yet no other is in such an almost woodland setting, and no other is so lavishly laid out as to allow trams to be photographed at different levels. the location is milchbuck, a busy tram, trolleybus and bus interchange adjoining irchel park. to the left a mirage set on route 7 emerges from the schwamendingen tram subway, while the tram 2000 set on the right is heading for the same subway. due to the central platforms in the tunnel, trams have to run on the left, and the lines are crossed over at this junction, explaining the need for the outbound line to rise over the inbound line before the former can enter the tunnel. the tram 2000 set in the background is waiting to leave the turning circle on a short working of route 9. the tracks used by routes 10 and 14 to oerlikon continue to it's left. the snow had fallen two days earlier and was to last well into the new year. if picture failed to load, click here photo by a. moglestue . last updated 15.01.02 counter added 15.01.02

21st october 2019. tram alicante, la isleta tram stop, this section has recently been converted to double track in connection with the tunnel through the serra grossa replacing the seafront alignment. the finca adoc tower can be seen in the background.

21st october 2019. closed section of the former trenet line along the seafront in alicante. the line that once went straight ahead directly on the seafront continued to la marina and was replaced in 2010. the line that curves off to the right and passes under the roadway was opened in 2007 when trams reached mercado and was closed in 2019 when the serra grossa tunnel made the seafront section superfluous. the sleepers still show where the lines once split.

3 june 2009. view from the santa barbara castle, alicante, of a tram on route 3 at sangueta. this line was opened in 2007 and takes routes 1 and 3 into central alicante by a tunnel. the alignment of the original trenet can be seen to the right of the major road on this picture. this carries tram route 4 to la marina and puerta del mar along the seafront. see also this map .

4th june 2008. the section where the tram runs along the rocky seafront at serra grossa is iconic of alicante's tram system. plans are however in progress that will see the alignment replaced by a double-track tunnel — so enjoy it while you can.
