16th may 2006. flashback to 2006. this was the same location as this 2011 view:
the swissmill is still served by rail but the tracks have been relocated to the other side of the viaduct.

18th june 2009. these are not tram tracks but the tracks of the industrial siding serving the swissmill mill on sihlquai. the tracks are having to be diverted to make way for the tram tracks.

2nd december 2006, kurbeli 1408 in the yard at zw altstetten. this vehicle is subject to a preservation bid by aktion pro sächsitram . kurbeli was the middle-weight variant of the swiss standard tram and built in the 1940's and early 1950s. similar trams also ran in other swiss cities.

basel steinenberg
22nd august 2008, the classic swiss standard tram lives on in basel, albeit refurbishes with small high-intensity headlights. i preferred the round ones. this set even conforms to modern disability requirements. the trailer has been converted to low floor.

end of the gtz era: trolleybus winterthur
winterthur hauptbahnhof, 21st march 2011. as far as i could observe, 149 was the only gtz in service on this day. soon it will be replaced by new hess swisstrolleys.

zurich double-articulated trolleybus
11th september 2007, the first of zürich's double-articulated lightram3 -type trolleybuses. these are manufactured by the swiss company, hess, with electrical equipment by vossloh kiepe. i was quite surprised to encounter this vehicle as i hadn't been expecting it in service so soon.
