28th july 2008, a duewag high-floor tram leaving hauptbahnhof. these trams dating from 1981 are now the oldest to still see service in freiburg, and the only all high-floor cars.

2nd february 2008. to mark the 40th anniversary of massive student protests agsinst tram fare increases in freiburg, preserved gt4 number 109 ran as a special service with an exhibition on the event. the route number 68 of course marks the year. freiburg never used such high numbers for tram routes. here 109 is seen at hauptbahnhof.

13h December 2013, A pair of Cobras meet at Bahnhof Oerlikon. This track layout will soon be rebuilt as double track, meaning eastbound trams no longer need to wind their way through Nansenstrasse, but it will also mean that views of two trams facing in the same direction and standing side by side will soon be history in this location. The VBG unit on the right is in the revised VBG livery with more generous use of white on the front end, applied following a spate of accidents on the airport line.

25th october 2001. tram 2000 car 2113 has been fitted with a low floor section. the section was built in the vbz's own workshops using mainly tram 2000 parts. here the lengthened car stands at oerlikon station on it's first day in service. 2113 ran on route 10 on this and the following day before being transferred to route 6. note the non-standard paint scheme around the articulations (on single-articulated tram 2000 cars, the blue band is broader).

28 october 2013, hautbahnhof, zürich. the abb / mercedes o405 gtz trolleybuses are a fast vanishing species. 106 is the only remaining unit to still sport a roller blind as destination display rather than an led matrix. it also still bears the abb legend, making it possible that this is still the original 1994 paintwork.

29.6.15. stadtbahnwagen 214 was once the pride of freiburg's fleet. delievered in 1981, the car even had a children's book dedicated to it. but alas the car is approaching the end of its working life in freiburg. with its ugly led destination displays, it certainly looks a mere shadow of its former elegance.

22nd september 2007 every year, at the household fair züspa, the tram enthusiast society, aktion pro sächsitram , operates a public service between hauptbahnhof and the fair, which is held in oerlikon. here museum cars 1009 and 679 are seen at the start of their journey on bahnhofquai. these vehicles are from the late 1920s and the type remained in service until the early 1970s.

22nd september 2007 every year, at the household fair züspa, the tram enthusiast society, aktion pro sächsitram , operates a public service between hauptbahnhof and the fair, which is held in oerlikon. here museum cars 1392 and 732 are seen entering bahnhofquai, having just turned using the neumühlequai loop. these vehicles are from the 1940s and 1950s and the type survived in service until the mid 1990s. some trailers survived until 2004. today (septmeber 2007), several of the type are still in use in north korea. the large domed building in the far background of this picture is the university of zürich.

2119 heads a tram 2000 + pony up leonhardstrasse in november 2003. route 6 climbs some 200 metres between hauptbahnhof and zoo. 2119 has since been rebuilt with a low floor centre section ( sänfte ). the italianate tower of liebfrauenkirche can be seen to the right.

10th december 2014. vbz's parcel bus has become a regular feature of the christmas shopping scene on bahnhofstrasse, providing a place where shoppers can leave items and even get help with packaging. rumour has it, the days of this bus are numbered. this is saurer guk nr 540, built 1967, withdrawn 1994, set aside as a heritage vehicle and now renumbered in the four digit series as a non-revenue vehicle.
