GTZ trolleybus number 1

click to reduce size

1995, Mercedes/ABB O405 GTZ trolleybus number 1 (former prototype) of 1986 approaches Kirche Fluntern on route 33. This was the only GTZ to have three doors rather than four. It was also the only GTZ to gave carried this livery variation with more generous use of blue. The livery lasted until 1999. The bus was unpopular with staff as the missing rear door supposedly lead to longer loading times and made time keeping difficult. It was hence frequently used for driver training. This became official in 2007 when the bus could be declared surplus to the requirements of the regular fleet and was renumbered 4122 in the training fleet. This status was short lived however, as the bus suffered a transmission failure later that year and was scrapped for spares.
