3rd August 2007, Railway hydro-generating station at Piotta (near Airolo). This power station was built at the time of the electrification of the Gotthard railway. The tracks going up the mountain on the left are the funicular to Piora. The power station is fed from a lake at Ritom, just beyond Piora. The tracks in the foreground are a siding from the Gotthard railway, built to deliver parts tom the power station. The siding crosses the Gotthard motorway at grade!
